Hello all,

My name is Paul and I've been a gamer for as long as I can remember. I have been going by "Chameleon" since Mechwarrior 2 (1995) when multiplayer games started allowing more than 8 characters in a player's name.

I've used Linux since 2001 including distros such as Slackware, Caldera OpenLinux eDesktop 2.x, Red Hat 7.x - Fedora Core 3, Gentoo (briefly), and Ubuntu since it's second release (5.04 Hoary Hedgehog) in 2005.

I'm also a fan[boy] of Android since the G1 (FINALLY A LINUX PHONE!) and currently have a Samsung Galaxy S3 running the latest AOKP nightly ROM & Amazon Kindle Fire (original model) running CyanogenMod, the original Logitech Revue Google TV, and the OUYA console.

I've been trying to find the time to learn how to make Android apps & games and dream to one day make a successful game.
With the goal of making games in mind, I upgraded my computer last year to the following (abbreviated) specs:
- Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit
- AMD FX-8120 (8-core @ 3.1 GHz)
- 16 GB DDR3 RAM
- AMD Radeon HD 6570 w/2 GB VRAM
- 1 TB main HD
- 4.5 TB (3x1.5 TB) BTRFS storage array
- 42" HDTV as monitor
I have run Linux, Win7 (VM), and Mac OS X Snow Leopard (VM) simultaneously on this hardware and it only consumed 38% of my RAM. I did that to try to get the Unity dev studio working, but it wouldn't run properly on the VMs. I've given up on that an instead contributed to the Kickstarter campaign for Leadwerks which is a complete games dev studio that is being ported to Linux so we can build games for Linux and Android, on Linux!

I'm employed as a Software Test Automation specialist and have 10 years experience in business software QA as well as helping to test games on many different platforms for fun. I'm very pleased to see significant strides in Linux gaming, including the Humble Indie Bundles (I've contributed to every one that supported Linux/Android) and Steam on Linux. I always thought WINE was the wrong answer, but better than nothing (when it works).

I enjoy riding motorcycles and have logged over 80,000 miles on 3 sportbikes & 1 power-cruiser (V-Rod) since July 10, 2007 when I bought my first bike. My wife and I moved to Southern California (from Seattle, Washington) 2 months ago partially to enjoy better riding weather more of the time. She and I also ride (2-up or each on our own bike) sometimes with my father who is 71 and still rides a Kawasaki Ninja sportbike!
